Business Certificates

Any person conducting business under any title other than their own name must file a certificate with the Town Clerk (MGL Ch110, Sec 5). This is a name registration only, not a license to conduct business. The business owner is responsible for complying with all town bylaws, rules, and regulations. Home businesses are subject to approval by the Building Commissioner. Fee $40; checks payable to Town of Hubbardston
 
  • Must appear in person at Town Clerk's office (all partners) or download a form and have it signed in the presence of a Notary Public
  • Certificate is good for 4 years and shall be available at the address such business is conducted and shall be furnished on request during regular business hours to any person who has purchased goods or services from such business
  • Upon discontinuing, changing the name of the business, retiring or withdrawing from such business or partnership, a statement under oath must be filed with the Town Clerk.
