Absentee Ballots

Applications for Absentee ballots for the Town Election can be submitted now until 12pm on Monday, June 29th. 
 
  • All applications for absentee ballots must be in writing and received no later than 12 noon the day before an election. Applications may be downloaded and may be returned by mail or hand delivered to the Town Clerk's Office.
  • You may also request to receive ballots for all elections in a calendar year (i.e., college student or voter on extended trip away, etc).
  • Once a request is received, the ballot must either be mailed to the voter or the voter may vote in person at the Town Clerk's office. Ballots cannot be handed out over the counter to be taken home.
  • Please allow enough time for delivery by U.S. Mail.  
  • All ballots must be returned to the Town Clerk by 8:00pm on Election Day.

Eligibility for Absentee Voting

In Massachusetts these are the only reasons a registered voter may vote absentee:
  1.  No excuse needed due to Covid-19
  2. Absence from your city or town during normal polling hours; or
  3. Physical disability preventing you from going to the polling place; or
  4. Religious belief;  
Or a non-registered voter who is:
  1. A Massachusetts citizen absent from the state (i.e., college student); or   
  2. An active member of the armed forces or merchant marines, their spouse or dependent; or
  3. A person confined in a correctional facility or a jail, except if by reason of a felony conviction.
