Filing Requirements for Campaign Finance Reports

All candidates for municipal office, including all incumbent elected officials, are required to file 3 campaign finance reports. The first is due 8 days prior to the election, the second is due 30 days after the election, and the third is a year-end report due on January 20. The same requirements also apply to all active campaign/ballot question committees.

According to the campaign finance law, you must file a year-end report on Form CPF M102 with this office on or before January 20. The reporting period covers the day after your last report (i.e., July 9 for 2015 candidates or 30 days after incumbents were last elected) through December 31, 2015.

If you have not received any contributions, made any expenditures or incurred any liabilities during this reporting period, and you do not have a previous campaign balance, you have the option of signing an M102-0 affidavit form stating those facts. You may download the form here and send it to the Town Clerk or come into the office to sign.

Additional forms are available online through the Office of Campaign Finance if needed.

Please call with any questions or refer to Mass.General Law Chapter 55 for details on campaign finance law and associated penalties.
