Board & Committee Summit / Training Held 9/14/2023

summit

On Thursday, September 14th, the Town of Hubbardston held its biennial Board and Committee Summit at the Hubbardston Senior Center. This summit serves as an opportunity for the various municipal boards and committees to come together, share updates on their recent activities and plans, and participate in an Open Meeting Law training session.

This year's summit was well-attended by members of the Select Board, Finance Committee, Planning Board, Zoning Board of Appeals, Conservation Commission, Historical Commission, and more. After introductions and brief reports from each group, Town Clerk Candace Livingston and Attorney Carolyn Murray from the law firm KP Law led an informative training on the state's Open Meeting Law.

The Open Meeting Law discussion was lively, with board and committee members asking thoughtful questions about proper procedure for posting meetings, executive sessions, remote participation, and more. Attorney Murray and Clerk Livingston provided guidance on best practices for complying with the law's requirements.

Overall, the Fall 2023 Board and Committee Summit provided a valuable chance for Hubbardston's local leadership to sync up on important issues, gain knowledge on the Open Meeting Law, and ensure transparency and openness in town governance. Special thank you to all who attended and presented.
