Hubbardston Hike April 27 at 10 a.m.

Hike

Please join members of the Hubbardston Open Space Committee as we explore some woodland that is “off the beaten path.”

Meet at 49 Root Road in Hubbardston for a two-mile hike on rough, primitive trails.  There are stone walls, house foundations, and “old-field” pines; reminders that this land now richly forested with stately oak and ash was once sheep pasture and homes.  The scene invites conversation about wild lands, old-growth, carbon, and succession.

Leaders Stephanie Frend, Bob Hatch, and Tim Hawley.
