Republic Services Trash Haulers

The Board of Health met on Tuesday to discuss ongoing issues with Republic Services trash and recycle collection. Members of the Board of Health and the town staff have reached out to ascertain potential recourse. Additionally, the Board of Health voted to send a formal open letter to Republic in addition to holding a public hearing tentatively scheduled for August 14, 2018 regarding the licensure of Republic Services as a hauler in town. Republic has been invited to this hearing and all members of the public are encouraged to bring their questions and concerns. Residents are encouraged to call Republic and demand (per individual agreements) additional pick up services and/or refund for missed pick-ups.

The Board of Health has also asked us to share the following information about switching vendors if residents want immediate recourse from Republic. This information is from E.L. Harvey (licensed Hubbardston Hauler).

“The best way we can help is for residents to call us at 800-321-3002 as soon as possible to set up new service so we can get bins out to them and schedule them for service. We service residents of Hubbardston weekly on Thursday for Waste and every other week for recycle (B week, which is this week and week of July 12th next). If we can get them in our system, set up and routed we will be able to deliver them a 96 gal bin next week on Saturday (delayed one day due to holiday). If they sign up before, we can still take their loose bags for Trash next Thursday and pick-up their recycle on the 12th. I realize this does alleviate the trash and recycle built up from Republic right now, but if a resident calls Republic for a removal of service, I assume they would take it along with the bin.”
